Aerosol Laboratory Boundary Layer Laboratory Computing Infrastructure

Boundary Layer Laboratory

CAOS has a very active field experiment group and has made measurements both over land and ocean.
There are two automatic weather stations (AWS) within the IISc campus and another one at Vengurla in Maharastra. The Lab has modern surface flux sensors including sonic anemometer, IR Hygrometer, pyranometer and pyrgeometer. Vaisala Radiosonde receiver system with GPS wind capability enables probing the vertical structure of the atmosphere.

SODAR and RASS for measuring the temperature and wind velocity of the atmospheric boundary layer, LIDAR for measurements of aerosol vertical profiles and a host of instruments for surface aerosol measurements.
